Recent News Articles

The media have hosted lately a number of really excellent articles on the politics of globalization, most recently this one in the Washington Post. I’ve bookmarked them all with our class tag, fsem100j, so they should be picked up by the aggregator on our course website. I hope you find them as interesting as I did.

Deadline for the Expert Study

I wanted to clarify what we agreed to today: The first draft of your expert study is due before you go home for Thanksgiving. I will be away at a conference on Tuesday, November 21, so we won’t have class that day. As a result, you should plan on emailing me your draft. Note that we’re planning on spending some class time next week discussing how to write an expert study. Bring your questions then.

From Tuesday’s Class

1. I posted my notes from the last few classes on the wiki near the bottom of the page.

2. I also posted separately the questions we developed last class to elaborate on the theoretical analysis of outsourcing. Please post the answers you found for these questions on the same wiki page.  Try to get this done by class time tomorrow.  Thanks!

Blog Portfolio

Just a reminder that if you have some spare time, you might want to start building your blog portfolio. Your portfolio should consist of at least one blog posting from each week of the semester (starting with week 2). Since we are past the halfway point, you could start selecting postings for the portfolio, which is due by the Thursday, Dec. 7. Let me know if you have any questions.

Class Discussion of President Frawley’s Speech

You can listen to the cleaned up audio recording of our discussion of Dr. Frawley’s speech here.  (Thanks, Jerry!)

Mrs. Jones’ Presentation on Library Research

You can get a copy of her powerpoint presentation here. (This is especially for you, Hart!)

Having problems with the password protected post?

Try using the Firefox browser. There might be a problem if you use the Internet Explorer browser. I’m looking into the errror, but for now, I think Firefox is the way to go.

If you don’t use this browser yet, you might want to - it is much better than IE, and fewer security problems to boot.
